The Ron Jamieson BMO Financial Group Aboriginal Scholarship Program 

            BMO Financial Group is pleased to introduce a new scholarship program for Aboriginal students aspiring to work for one of the top financial institutions in Canada. Scholarship recipients receive a scholarship, gain experience through a paid summer internship and ultimately land a permanent role with our company as a Financial Services Manager, Commercial Account Manager or a key role within our BMO Harris Private Banking wealth management team.  

            BMO Financial Group is proud to name this scholarship in honour of Ron Jamieson, a Mohawk from Six Nations of the Grand River, who at the time of his retirement was Senior Vice-President Aboriginal Banking. During the 13 years that Ron led the Aboriginal Banking team, he guided BMO Financial Group in building successful business relationships with Aboriginal communities across the country and in fostering and promoting educational and employment opportunities for Aboriginal youth.                Scholarships will be awarded as follows:  

 

COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT MANAGER STREAM
$5,000 per year for two years 
FINANCIAL SERVICES MANAGER STREAM
$2,500 per year for one year
PRIVATE BANKING OFFICER STREAM  
$2,500 per year for one year                               
PORTFOLIO ASSISTANT STREAM
$2,500 per year for one year

Mental Health Services: Six Nations Members can access the names of names of F.N.I.B approved counsellors for anywhere in Canada.  

First Nations & Inuit Health Branch    Mental Health Inquiry Line    1 800 881 3921  

Option 1 = Mental Health Counselling (the only required information is the area the person is currently located, no personal information is required) Once a nearest location can be identified a list of approved providers will be given to caller or can be faxed to caller.  

Option 2 = All other Health inquiries  

It's a very simple process and the choice of providers is up to the student/caller.
The only time personal information is required, is when a provider has been selected.
Personal information includes name, date of birth and Indian Affairs Status Card .  

Six Nations member can also access services by contacting Six Nations Mental Health Services directly 519-445-2143.
There is a 24 hour crisis response service 1-866-445-2204 but this is staffed by a consortium of Six Nations service agencies and depending on what agency leads the shift the caller may not most current Mental Health resource information (contacts
). 

RBC is looking for a student who has completed a minimum 2 years of a Commercial/Commerce Program and an interest in working for a bank upon graduation.  RBC will provide a training position over the summer in Brantford between the 2nd & 3rd year and 3rd and 4th year with an expectation that an offer for employment may be made upon graduation.  Interested students wanting more information may contact Bob Burns, Vice President, Commercial Markets at 519-758-2543
