  • SDF Aboriginal Scholarship Program

    Objective:
    The Security and Defense Forum Aboriginal scholarship is intended to help develop and promote scholarly interest in contemporary Canadian security and defense issues among members of the First Nations (status or non-status), Inuit, and Métis Canadians. 

  • Native Leadership Scholarship program

    The Native Leadership Scholarship (NLS) program has announced a funding opportunity for women pursuing non-doctoral level graduate education in human rights, sustainable development, and public health. NLS creates educational opportunities for women around the world who are grassroots leaders, organizers, and activists demonstrating financial need, and endorses non-traditional leaders who model change while using imaginative methodologies. Four to six scholarships will be awarded in amounts ranging up to US$25,000 per academic year for a maximum of two years; awards are paid directly to the institution in a student's account. Pre-applications for the 2006-07 academic year will be available on the NLS program Web site, from January 1–March 25, 2006.

    INAC Bursary System E-Directory of Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards for Aboriginal Students The purpose of the Aboriginal Bursary System is to provide Aboriginal students with a valuable tool to facilitate their pursuit of post-secondary studies. These awards are made available by various organizations and institutions. Bursaries may be searched by regions, disciplines, providers and key words.
    To apply for bursaries the organizations that are awarding them must be contacted. Contact information is provided on the Web site.

  • 2004 RBC Royal Bank Financial Lifeskills Scholarships - designed for students in any stream pursing studies in any field.  Deadline May 14, 2004 www.rbcroyalbank.com/lifeskills  To be eligible you must be graduating from your last year of high school or CEGEP, with a minimum grade average of 65 percent, be accepted into a college, university or CEGEP in Canada for the Fall/Winter basis, remain in a university or college program for a one-year period on a full-time basis, and illustrate some involvement in any or all of the following areas:  community leadership; extra-curricular activities; special endeavours or circumstances; volunteer service; outside interests and/or hobbies; career and educational objectives.

  • Imperial Oil - Science Education and Employment Development (SEED) Scholarship-http://www.seedprogram.ca/
    The Imperial Oil SEED scholarship application is now available to eligible students enrolled full-time in engineering, petroleum technologies, business administration, commerce, computer science, earth science and related disciplines. Applications are due July 1, 2005.

  • Norman Jacobs Environment Scholarship 
    Purpose:
    to honour the life long contributions of Norm Jacobs to post secondary education at Six Nations while providing financial support to a successful Six Nations post secondary student enrolled in an environmental study or related program at the college or university level. 
    Amount: $1,000    
    Deadline:
    Applications must be received by Grand River Post Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO) by July 1.   Please note: a recipient of the scholarship may apply to receive the award in subsequent years.

  • Haudenosaunee Recognition Award (Indigenous Knowledge Award)
    This award is in recognition of students who utilize indigenous knowledge and languages in their studies.  The students are selected through a community process that assesses whether the students conduct themselves appropriately within cultural protocols.
    Student who have demonstrated the following in his/her post secondary studies:
    Respect- conduct themselves appropriately within cultural protocols
    Reciprocity - demonstrated community service/benefits to the community
    Intregrity - honesty - community contact with a relationship of respect and reciprocity
    Is utilizing Indigenous Knowledge in post secondary studies
    Integrates language in his/her studies
    Process:  Nominated by a Six Nations community member, verbal or letter nomination accepted.

    Syracuse University is pleased to announce The Haudenosaunee Promise Scholarship Program.  The promise seeks to make the rich educational experiences of the University available to admitted, qualified, first year and transfer American Indian students.

    Scholarships not specifically designed for Aboriginal students ARE STILL accessible to Aboriginal students who meet the selection criteria specific to that scholarship. Aboriginal students ARE NOT limited to apply only for scholarships designated "Native" or "Aboriginal".
  • General Motors Engineering Scholarship American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES) http://www.fredonia.edu/na/fa_gm.asp
    Established in 2002 as a partnership General Motors and the American Indian Science & Engineering Society.  Awards are for one academic year;  GM gives preference to Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical engineering majors;  Eligible applicants required to complete online inventory of skills administered by GM via the Internet;  Application available on AISES website.  Value of award is $ 3,000/academic year.  Deadline is June 15.  
  • AMEC Aboriginal undergraduate engineering scholarship
    In conjunction with AMEC, CEMF offers up to one $5,000 Undergraduate Engineering Scholarship annually to a Canadian Aboriginal women who are proven leaders and active in their community to encourage them to pursue a career in engineering.

  • Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business -Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth 
    Scholarship and bursary program dedicated to developing the next generation of Aboriginal leaders. By encouraging Aboriginal youth to stay in school, FAAY bridges the gap between the reality which kids confront in their communities and the opportunities available to those with higher education.

  • The C.D. Howe Memorial Foundation Engineering Scholarship Program

  • Canada Post - Aboriginal Education Incentive Award
    The Aboriginal Education Incentive Award (AEIA) celebrates the hard work and determination of Aboriginal people who have overcome personal, economic or social adversity in their pursuit of learning.  If you have committed to furthering your education and have completed a year in an educational program you may qualify.  Canada Post could give you a $1,000 award to recognize your efforts to change your life through education.  Open to all Aboriginal people in Canada.

  • The Lee Award
    Established by the children of teachers Walter and Louise Lee, Aboriginal high school studens who have demonstrated a commitment to school and the community are selected as recipients of this award.  Eligibility is for students of native ancestry in grades 9 through 12 at Metro Toronto Schools.  Deadline is December 1st.  Contact the Anishnawbe Health Toronto for further information at telephone 416 360 0486.

  • The Dr. Tomer Levy Memorial Bursary
