A Memorandum
(1992), Between the Six Nations
Council and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada provides for their
local administration of
the Post
Secondary Student Support Program.
The
Post Secondary Board is mandated to direct the operation of the Grand River Post
Secondary Education Office and reports to both Councils at least once per year. As part of
this reporting, the annual audit for the Grand River Post Secondary Education
Office (GRPSEO) is completed through the firm of KPMG, the auditing firm for
the Six Nations Council. The GRPSEO further provides an annual report to INAC as per the
1992 MOU mentioned above
In 1996, the Post Secondary
Board established a
revised statement of purpose for the GRPSEO.
Board Policy
states that the purpose of the Grand River Post Secondary Office is:
The role of the
board is to link with its moral ownership –
/with
Grand River Territory lineage, in determining and demanding appropriate
organizational performance and to ensure public accountability of the
board. The board's role is
unique in this trust obligation.
This policy statement applied within the post secondary
realities of limited resources and increasing demands guided operational policy and
activities over the year. Activities conducted through the GRPSEO were designed to fulfill the statement of purpose as well as being longer term strategies
that will help to address future challengers.
This report highlights support services and activities of
the GRPSEO along with accomplishments and outcomes consistent with the GRPSEO's statement
of purpose.
